The regional seminar on entrepreneurship and green, blue, and circular financing in the Southwest Indian Ocean region will begin on December 11, 2023. The opening ceremony will take place in the morning at the Faculty of Law and Economics on the Moufia Campus. This event aims to expand economic opportunities for entrepreneurs in the region and serve as a platform to promote green, blue, and circular solutions. Below, we publish the official statement (illustration photo: sly/www.imazpress.com).

The Indian Ocean Commission and the European Union have launched the “Entrepreneurship and Business Facilitation in the Indian Ocean” (ENFA-OI) program. This initiative seeks to increase economic opportunities for regional entrepreneurs while acting as a tool to promote green, blue, and circular solutions. It provides support to businesses in the tourism, seafood products, and cosmetic/medicinal plant sectors, with a particular emphasis on projects led by women and young entrepreneurs in the region.

As part of efforts to strengthen the capacities of support organizations for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups, the ENFA-OI program has partnered with Cap Business Indian Ocean and the Réunion Region, through the Maison de l’Export, to bring together key players in sustainable entrepreneurship promotion.

Objectives: Networking and knowledge enhancement, particularly on:

  • Best practices for supporting entrepreneurs.
  • Effective strategies and techniques for securing green, blue, and circular funding.
  • Training needs and opportunities.

This seminar follows a diagnostic study of MSME and start-up support organizations in the region, conducted by the ENFA-OI program. The study highlighted a major challenge: a lack of support and an urgent need for enhanced knowledge and skills for entrepreneurs, especially in the blue, green, and circular economy sectors.
