Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) Launches Call for Applications for Seafood Professionals

The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), through the ENFA-OI project, funded by the European Union, is launching a new call for applications aimed at seafood industry professionals.

What is it about?

A training program on fish drying and smoking techniques and standards.

Objective?

To enhance the technical skills of professionals, helping them improve competitiveness and comply with industry standards.

The call for applications is open until August 26, 2024. It primarily targets trainers and professionals in the fishing sector, specifically those involved in fish drying and smoking in Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles.

The training will take place from September 30 to October 4, 2024, in Comoros.

About the ENFA-OI Project

The ENFA-OI project, implemented by the IOC, is funded by the European Union with a budget of €1.6 million. Its main objective is to increase economic opportunities for entrepreneurs in the IOC region, within a framework of sustainable development. The project serves as a key promoter of green, blue, and circular economy solutions.

ENFA-OI prioritizes businesses led by young entrepreneurs and women in three key sectors:

  • Tourism
  • Seafood products
  • Cosmetic and medicinal plants

The project organizes training sessions, mobilizes entrepreneurial support structures, and facilitates sectoral operators’ participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions.
