The main objective of this training course was to provide participants with the necessary tools to guide and support the transition from artisanal to semi-industrial fishing, and thus :
- Clarify concepts and business models: Explain the differences between artisanal and semi-industrial fishing, identify limitations and detail the steps for a successful transition, taking into account the legal and fiscal framework.
- Master the formalities and anticipate the challenges: Describe the administrative procedures and analyze the assets and risks associated with the legal, fiscal and economic environment of this transformation.
The training enabled participants to raise awareness and support industry operators in their modernization and adaptation. The target groups were organizations providing support to MSMEs and startups in the seafood sector, training organizations for MSMEs and startups in the sector, and associations of operators in the sector.
In Train-the-Trainer (ToT) mode, this training aims to create a multiplier effect, with participants becoming capable of delivering the same training. The pedagogical approach emphasizes andragogical techniques (simulations, role-playing, experience sharing). The training content is twofold: the specific subject of fisheries transition and modules on teaching skills. The following concepts formed the basis of the training:
- Animation techniques for training on transition issues.
- Basics of artisanal and semi-industrial fishing.
- Essential tax and social obligations in the fishing industry.
- Transition indicators and specificities of each model.
The training took place online over two consecutive half-days, on January 27 and 28, 2025.
